World Camp USA

World Camp USA is an established field hockey training organization; its claim to fame are the highly regarded summer camps that occur each at universities throughout the United States. The World Camp team approached me to join their new marketing blitz. While I had no previous field hockey experience, I decided to take on the challenge.

The goal for the project was to create something to keep everyone from coaches, to players, to parents tuned into the camp’s website in the off-season, where minds have a tendency to drift somewhere other than field hockey. Blogs were the answer.

Using the intuitive WordPress framework, I created a multi-pronged outlet for World Camp USA to create and maintain as many blogs as they see fit. Blogs for players, blogs for coaches. You name it, they’ve got it.

At the same time, World Camp USA was in a logistical crunch. With camp attendances increasing each year, the team was still relying on email registration procedures … which are arduous for even the most experienced data-entry specialist.

As a sort of side project, I created an administrative system which allows World Camp build/manage/enjoy registration hubs with the simple click of a hyperlink. And that’s not all. The system, built using the CodeIgniter framework, is extensible to both photo and video uploads, and permits for the download of collected data into neat .csv files.

A project recapitulation:

  • Multi-bog WordPress installation with a unique theme.
  • Data collection system built on the CodeIgniter framework
  • XHTML, CSS, jQuery
